E-Statement Security Updates
On October 18, 2007, you will see several changes to your initial login to eStatements, our electronic statement-delivery program. These changes are part of an upgrade, which includes an extra layer of security to safeguard your online account information. We are pleased to offer these advanced security features to help protect you from identity theft and other forms of Internet fraud. It is important to us to ensure that your accounts with us are secure.
On your initial login, you will need to follow a simple, one-time process (requires less than 5 minutes) to set up the enhanced security settings. You will be asked to do the following:
• Select a security phrase, which will be displayed during future logins. This ensures that you have accessed our valid Web site and protects you against “phishers.” Phishing is an Internet crime, in which attackers “phish” for your personal information by building “fake” pages that mirror valid sites. Phishers hope users will enter their sites and provide login information, which they record and use to access your Internet account.
• Select and answer three security questions: This enhanced security helps safeguard your account against login attempts by unauthorized parties. If you attempt to access your statement from an unregistered computer or if you enter the incorrect password more than twice, you will be prompted to answer one or more of your security questions before gaining access to your account.
Our enhanced authentication security ensures a more secure sign-on process and protective measures during online sessions.
In addition to our more robust security, here are several other enhancements you will see with our upgraded eStatements program:
• Tooltips – offers mouse-over tips for all fields requiring user input.
• Links to frequently asked questions (FAQs) – provides descriptive online assistance that responds to common issues and concerns.
• Login history – lets you view your last successful/unsuccessful login and IP address.
• Automatic session timeout ¬– displays countdown of minutes/seconds, and logs out users after 20 minutes of inactivity.
• Register your computer– this one-time procedure lets you register each computer that you intend to use to access your account, simplifying future logins.
